WHAT WE DO
We provide couples who are head-over-heels in love and total party animals with a reception that is filled with heart swelling, lump-in-your-throat moments combined with a dance until you drop party!
HOW WE DO IT
We’re known for our professionalism, but also for our closely developed relationships with each and every one of our couples. When your guests have mistaken us for a member of the family, we know we’ve done our job right!
OUR STORY
It all began when Thomas & I met working together in the same wedding band back in 1991. Thomas played bass guitar/keyboards and I sang vocals. I had left the band to pursue my schooling and then a career in elementary and special education while still staying in touch with Thomas and the friendship that had developed. Fast forward to 2003, Thomas was working with his best friend Tony in a wedding DJ business on Long Island. I soon joined the team in 2004 working side by side with Thomas. Soon we realized we loved working with each other side by side.
On Christmas Eve in 2008, Thomas surprised me with a marriage proposal at my parent’s house via a power point presentation of the past 5 years we were together and asking me to marry him at the end. It was so wonderful having a lot of my family there to share the news of our engagement! We had a beautiful beach-themed wedding in August of 2009 and it was so amazing and beautiful!.
What made it even more special was that we had the same wedding band we first met in, play at our reception. Thomas played the bass, and I sang for 2 songs as a surprise for all of our family and friends who attended!
ABOUT LAURIE KUERLEMANN
I have always had a passion for music starting at an early age. I was singing in my church choir and taking balalaika lessons at my church.
I always loved the thought of teaching and helping others as I was growing up. As I got my bachelor’s in elementary education and then my dual masters in literacy and and students with disabilities, I loved finding creative, “out-of-the-box” ways to help others and make them feel special and successful.
Combining these two passions is what has led me to being the master of ceremonies and wedding entertainment specialist for our company. I truly love making connections and creating those “Awwwww” moments for each and every one of our couples.
My free time is spent learning about how to make things creative, unique and personal for our couples. I love going for walks or traveling with my husband Thomas and our beautiful daughter Faith, I enjoy blogging about Real Weddings and anything that will help couples make their ceremonies and receptions personal and unique! My idea of a good time is singing Karaoke, dancing the night away, playing mini-golf or regular golf, baking, wine tasting, getting a tan on the beach, spending time with close friends and family, and watching our wedding video on a regular basis.
I am in love with love! It doesn’t take much to get me all choked up when it comes to couples who are madly in love with each other and let their emotions show throughout their wedding day. I usually wear my heart on my sleeve, am an known for my infamous “HUGS!” I would do anything for my family, my dearest friends and my church.
ABOUT THOMAS KUERLEMANN
Thomas started his love affair with music when he was about 10 years old while first learning to play the piano. He shortly got into playing the bass guitar, which lead him into playing with several different bands in high school and then on to the top 8 piece wedding band on Long Island in the early 90’s that led both our paths to cross. He learned the in’s and out’s of the wedding industry and honed his skills in reading a crowd and becoming a professional entertainer. He also learned lighting and sound production from some of the best in the business.
Thomas started his own DJ company because he wanted to give couples more options than just hiring a band for their wedding reception. This allowed him to really personalize receptions and to get out in the crowd and engage the guests, getting them actively involved in the excitement.
Thomas spends his free time playing his bass, continually learning about music and sound production, home projects, singing Karaoke, dancing the night away, boating and fishing, camping, and making me and our beautiful daughter Faith feel so very loved! A good day for Thomas is watching a winning NY Rangers game, skiing, exercising, wine tasting, seeing a couple have the best time at their reception, spending time with family and friends, and spending time with our daughter and doing things to make her laugh, giggle and getting lots of hugs and kisses from her in return!
WHAT WE BELIEVE
Most DJ’s see a wedding as a job. Brides are SO much more than that! You want a connection, an emotional experience. You want a DJ you can relate to, who understands you and can feel the emotional elements of your wedding – the romance, excitement and fun of your wedding day that you’ve always dreamed of. When Thomas and I got married, we felt exactly the same way, and this is what inspired us to do the same for our couples!
THE BOTTOM LINE – WHY WE DO WHAT WE DO
It’s about the personal connections. It’s about seeing our couples, their family and friends with tears in their eyes, and smiles on their faces, and feeling grateful to have been chosen to create and share those moments with them.
OUR COMMITMENT TO EXCELLENCE
We always strive to improve our services. We participate in continuing education on all topics related to the wedding industry through the American DJ Online University. Some of the training and classes we’ve attended include:
